Below is information about my services and answers to common questions.

  • Schedule a free consultation with me and we’ll talk about your book idea, your goals, and the best path forward for you to become a successful author, whether we end up working together or not.

  • Most full-length books (30,000 words or more) take around 7-10 months to complete, though memoirs and novels can take up to 12 months. Books less than 30,000 words usually take 5-7 months or less.

  • I take great care with each project so you get the attention and expertise you deserve and a finished product you love.
     
    These prices are estimates and vary depending on the length and complexity of your manuscript and your budget. 

    Developmental Editing: Around $55/hour ($0.07–$0.10 per word).

    Musical Line Editing: Around $45/hour ($0.04–$0.07 per word).

    Ghostwriting: Most full-length ghostwriting projects (30,000 words or more) range from $35,000–$60,000 in total, charged on a monthly payment plan, depending on the project’s length and complexity. (A comparable hourly rate would be $75–$105/hour.)
     
    Included in this price is a third-party copy edit and proofread (each of which cost hundreds or thousands), assistance determining the best publishing path for your book, and connections to the right people in the industry.

  • Not unless you tell them. I remain anonymous and do not ask for any acknowledgments. (Though testimonials and referrals are always welcome and appreciated!)

  • No. I believe that you as the author deserve all royalties. The amount you earn from book sales depends on many factors, including your publishing path and any agreements you make with a publisher, your distribution strategy, and your marketing and promotion efforts. I provide assistance on publishing and marketing to help ensure your author success.

  • A Certified Ghostwriter is someone who holds a certificate from the Ghostwriting Professional Designation Program (GPDP) sponsored by California State University, Long Beach, the first (and still only) academically sponsored ghostwriting training in the world. GPDP teaches ghostwriting theory, techniques, knowledgebase, and publishing-industry secrets in one intense, year-long, masters-level course of study.   • I will deliver your final draft electronically as a Word document (.doc or .docx file), which is the preferred format of the book industry. On request I can accommodate .pdf files. You may also request one hard copy.

  • If you choose to do the “heavy lifting” of writing and rewriting but want expert guidance along the way, I will guide you through each stage of the writing process from outline to literary property. We will meet for 60 minutes once or twice a month or more, depending on your schedule. I’ll help you make decisions for your target audience, review your material and provide feedback, keep you on track, and give plenty of encouragement along the way.
